"I loved them all with a supernatural, unconditional love I'd never felt before. It was as if God had removed my eyes and replaced them with His so I could people as the heavenly Father sees them -- lost and needy but with potential to glorify and reflect Him." (pg. 27)
"God always chooses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. He shows His might only on the behalf of those who trust in Him. Humility is the place where all Christian service begins." (pg. 65)
"God gives some people more than they need so that they can be channels of blessing to others." (pg. 85)
I've been thinking a lot of evangelism.
God has been revealing to me what evangelism really is -- through His word, through people, and through Himself. I won't deny that I tremble and feel really inadequate, but God has time and again showed Himself powerfully to me.
My prayer is for God to open my eyes to see people like how He sees them -- I want to love them unconditionally. I want people to draw closer to God through His love. I want God to empty me and use me as a vessel that will bring glory to His name. I want His will to be mine.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus didn't die on the cross to compel God to love people, but because He already loved them (that's you and me), the cross being a result of God's love, not the cause of it.
God has given us this gift -- not because we deserve it, but because he loves us. It's free and unmerited :)
