1. Forgiveness: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do"
2. Assurance: "I tell you, you will be with me today in paradise"
3. Comfort: "Dear woman, here is your son"; and "Son, take this woman as your mother"
4. Desolation: "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?"
5. Suffering: "I am thirsty"
6. Triumph: "It is finished"
7. Committal: "In Your hands I commit my spirit"
Jesus portrayed a life that what so obedient to the will of God. In the midst of all the suffering and mocking and scoffing, He prayed for the forgiveness of those who were nailing Him to the cross! While hanging from the cross, He offered comfort to those in need.
If Jesus can do that, what more we, as Christians, should exude a life of obedience just like Christ.
As today is Good Friday, I pray that you will take the time off and contemplate on what Jesus did for you and me on the cross.
