Many times during the Christmas season, we tend to get so caught up with the hustle and bustle of trying to find the "perfect" gift for someone. And we lose our focus on what Christmas really means. I, for one, can testify to this. It's not that Christmas isn't about giving, it IS, just that we have to remember what Christmas is all about. Think about this:
"This Christmas, think about what you would like to give to Jesus"
After all, it is His Birthday. We many times buy gifts for everyone, but we forgot about the birthday boy Himself.
This Christmas, let us take a moment and ponder on what Christmas really is; and what "GIVING" really is.
Winston Churchill said, "We make a living through what we get, but we make a life through what we give."
And giving doesn't have to depend on our budgets or checkbooks or whatever. Giving comes straight from the heart.
I know that this Christmas is a different Christmas for me - not because I'm in a different country or whatsoever; but that I began to think on what it REALLY means to give. As the years go by, I get so wrapped up with "Oh, I must get the BEST Christmas gift for ... and for ..." and I lost the essence of Christmas. This year I learned that Christmas is STILL about giving, but a different kind of giving - one that comes straight from the heart and reaches to the heart of the receiver.
Make this Christmas be your best Christmas by receiving His gift of Love, by giving yourself to Him and by sharing His love with others. Search for Him in every face. Watch for Him throughout each day and may this be a joy-filled Christmas and the beginning of a joy-filled year! (Mary Southerland)
