So yeah, as I was telling my brother through MSN that I volunteered for Mustard Seed yesterday. Now, you must be wondering what in the world is Mustard Seed. Well, it's a church where they provide dinner to the homeless people Downtown Victoria. Anyway, we (students who volunteered) went and prepared dinner; serve the people; talk with them; and later clean up. Well, I must say that I had a whole lot of fun. I actually did not know what to expect; so I went with an open mind and heart. What I experienced yesterday was totally awesome. I had fun preparing food and at the same time making new friends. It was a whole lot of fun because there were friends there and we sort of fellowshipped with one another. =)
Later, we went and serve the people food. Then we were to go and sort of talk to the people there - to mingle around. Well, for starters, I don't really have the courage to just approach some random person and start a conversation (This is something I'm TRYING to work on) Anyway, I saw this mom and 2 of her kids; and her youngest one was like crawling all over; so I decided to go and take care of her daughter while she ate. It ended up me, talking to her instead of taking care of her daughter. It was funny, but I was so BLESSED to have that conversation because I left that night feeling refreshed. She shared with me her personal stories about God and her life; and her family... It touches my heart to see how passionate she is for God. I managed to tell her something about my life and family. I knew she just wanted someone to talk to; and I'm glad I took that first step and approached here. I guess she left with a really blessed heart too. Well, she shared something with me, which I think I won't share here as maybe it's personal to her; but she wants me to remember her in prayers. =) And the best part is that I'll be seeing her again next week because I'm definitely going back next week to volunteer again. ;)
So yes, God indeed has blessed me with a superb time... Not only did I find refreshment; I found more friends; and strengthen some of my existing friendships. =)
Until today, whenever I think back of yesterday's event, I smile to myself. =) It feels good to be able to serve and be a blessing to others eh?
I'm praying that well, when I returned back home, I might wanna volunteer to do Street Ministry back in KL. We'll see how things go. I have many dreams right now, but I'm going to surrender them to God and to see where He leads me.
